Routing for safer rides: a space syntax approach to predict bicycle collisions in a Brazilian city

Abstract In order to broaden the discussion on safety of bicycle transport, this paper uses analytical capacity spatial syntax applied recording accidents involving cyclists in city Rolândia-PR, located Southern Region Brazil. With availability 535 reports trips made by mode, collected survey origin and destination city, a database was elaborated where each segment road received its numerical value from loading trips, corresponding values choice integration, generated Depthmap software. As result, relationship between point accident trip record refuted. contrast, angular integration were sufficient explain occurrence municipal urban network, statistically proven through generation generalized linear model. The contribution study focuses validity using predict safer routes, which is considered theoretical-methodological approach that identifies priority routes for implementation specific infrastructure transport.
